RECIPE: SPICY FIESTA DIP
Party food made healthy!
Spicy Mexican yogurt-based dip with a hint of sweetness and a touch of lime.
This recipe is mostly greek yogurt, with only a bit of mayonnaise added to give it a desired creaminess.
Serve with veggie sticks or whole grain tortilla chips.
PREP TIME: 5-7 min
MAKES: 1 cup
INGREDIENTS
-
1 sachet TASTE OF SANTA FE spice blend
-
¾ cup (170g) greek yoghurt
-
2 TBSP (30 ml) mayonnaise
-
2 tsp (10 ml) fresh lime juice
-
½ tsp salt (or to taste)
-
1-2 tsp coconut or palm sugar
PREPARATION
Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well to thoroughly blend. Cover and place in fridge until ready to serve.
NOTE: it's best if you can let it sit 30 minutes in the fridge before serving in order to soften the spices and give the flavours a chance to develop at bit.
SERVE
Top with fresh chili rings/slices, and cilantro or chives and sprinkle with a bit of chilli powder or paprika - all of the above go towards looks and a bit of an extra flavor kick!
Serve with fresh veggies (carrots, celery and bell pepper slices) or whole-grain tortilla chips.

SPICY / HEAT LEVEL
If you like it to be a little less spicy, just add a bit more yogurt. Want more spice? Use less yogurt and then just adjust the salt to taste.
SWEET & SOUR BALANCE
Good chefs are always quick to tell you that a winning dish hits all your tastebuds (sweet, salt, sour and bitter) so don't skimp on the lime or the sugar...they're in there for a reason. :-)
